Hi, my name is Katie. I am a horse riding instructor, trainer and naturopath and I help horse riders who want to be more balanced and effective in their riding so that they can have a better relationship with their horse. As a naturopath I can see how the health of horse riders impacts their horses ability to work to level they are asked. As an instructor and a rider I know that we have to be at our peak physically to enjoy our horses whether it be training, caring for them or mucking out stalls. I take my riding seriously, which is why I take my health seriously. Everyday I am working to optimise my physical condition and I want to share that with you.

This program is for you if:

  • You are getting back into riding after having children, had an injury, life got too hectic and you had to put riding on the back burner or you've had a break from riding in general and you want to improve your core strength, balance and your general health and fitness as you bring your horse back into work
  • If you've had a couple of falls and lost your nerve and would like to improve your "stickiness" in the saddle. A comment from a previous student who has worked through this program: "I now know why I always fall off! I have no core strength!!" If you've never done a core conditioning work out before you may not even know what an engaged core feels like, but I can guarantee after 3 weeks of this exercise program you will!!
  • You understand that your athleticism is integral to your horses performance. This program is great for establishing or reminding you of your riding foundations and can help you take your riding to the next level.
  • You want to lose weight!! I hate to be the one that says it but yes your weight affects the health of your horses back and its ability to work under saddle. If you stick to this program I guarantee you will lose excess fat, fluid and improve both your overall strength and your core strength. 
  • You are feeling your age. Being horse riders we generally have had our fair share of falls and injuries, and it just seems to be the older we get the more we notice them!! Did you know that what you eat has a direct impact on how well these injuries are managed as we age? Did you know that nutrition, herbs and essential oils are excellent for pain management and reducing the long term damage of inflammation?

I get it!! I know how hard horse riding is on our body and I also know how hard it can be on your horses body when you are not at your peak. So before you give and start thinking this is as good as its gonna get lets do some biohacking, lets optimise your meat suit and lets get you to your peak athletic abilities. 

This 3 week program is a kick start to get you into the swing of it. This program will help you shed those extra kilos so that you are lighter on your horses back. This program will improve the strength of your core so that your independent seat is more effective and balanced. This program will reduce fluid retention and inflammation in your body so that you have more energy and more agile in the saddle. This program will show you how to improve your independent seat so that you are distributing your weight evenly across the saddle, moving with your horse instead of against it, improving your horses balance and submission.

How often have you been told that as a horse rider your horse does all the work and you just have to sit up there and look pretty. Well all us horse riders actually know we work pretty damn hard! Not only just to stay on the horse but also to do the best by our horse we can. I know because I have been there, I never used to treat my body as an athlete because noone ever told me I was. And I suffered for it. My riding suffered for it. And my horse suffered for it. Well I'm here to tell you if you want to succeed as a horse rider you need to be treating not only your horse as an athlete but also yourself! Even if you are time poor. Even if you are a picky eater. And even if you don't think of yourself as an athlete. 

What could your riding look like if you treated yourself like the athlete you are? How could your horse perform if you were strong, fit and agile? How could you enjoy your riding if you were oozing energy and vitality?

I can tell you how my riding improved. I was forever struggling with rounded and hunched shoulders. This meant that I was easily tipped forward and unclear with my aids. It wasn't until my neck was in intolerable pain (I wasn't even able to hold a plate out in front of me to do the washing up) that I started to take my core strength seriously. I worked with an exercise physiologist for 6 months working on my posture and doing weight lifting and not only did I get a stronger core, fixed my neck and back but I also improved my riding position and as a result the clarity and efficiancy of my communication with my horses. And I want to share what I learnt with you, so that you can do it as well.
