4 Horses Hoof Balm: Shelly’s Blend.
Suitable for Laminitis, combined with Antibacterial Hoof Spray excellent for Thrush & Seedy Toe.
For the love a horse...
Originally I developed this to aid my horse Shelly who suffered from laminitis after being badly spooked damaging her tendons and concussing her hooves, causing hoof rotation and the subsequent symptoms associated with the condition.. After watching her suffering with abscesses and in pain applying medicated poultices and boots and administering pain relief. After an abscess causing her problems for over a month, I began to weigh up our options. After speaking to her Veterinarian I had a light bulb moment, and I was not ready to say goodbye to her, so I had nothing to lose. I had been studying and practicing Aromatherapy. Noticing how Shelly responded to and loved Essential oils when I was using them to treat my pain I decided to develop a hoof balm with cell regenerative, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and analgesic properties to ease her pain, improve hoof quality, reduces inflammation between the hoof wall and sole with something to prevent the abscesses from having such a devastating impact.
I got more than I hoped for, within 3 months one hoof began to re-rotate then 3 months later the other began to re-rotate.
This Balm is made with the highest quality Therapeutic Grade Essential oils and Carrier oils developed to be used during therapeutic treatments for human clients. Also I try to source local raw ingredients where possible. Please note that I make the base entirely from scratch this gives me quality control over what is used and how the product in made. This is how I have always made this product. In saying this it can take me up to 3 days to completely manufacture a tub of hoof balm. The balm is a heavy base and the ratio of Essential Oils used is very low at less than 1%. Essential Oils are highly concentrated plant essence a lot stronger than the whole plant for which the Essential Oils are derived, therefore only low dilutions are required. Furthermore, Horses have a very strong sense of smell.
High in Vitamins A, B, C, D, E and F and is rich in beta-carotene (excellent for healthy skin growth), including minerals (calcium, zinc, potassium, iron and phosphorus, ulcers, bruises/bruising, formation of scar tissue, cell regeneration, antioxidant (compounds neutralising free radicals), promotes healthy collagen and elastin, healing, improving poor coat and hoof condition. High in omega 3, 6 & 9 (Alpha-Linolenic, Gamma Linoleic & Oleic fatty acids), designed to protect the hoof providing a lipid barrier allowing the desired essential properties to enter the hoof promoting healing and healthy sound hoof growth. With Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, moisturising and softening, soothes irritated skin, allergies, anti-germicidal.
The Balm was developed for a specific purpose… To improve the quality of life my Shelly was having. I noticed that a part from the physiological changes in her hooves, the improved movement, within a couple of days Shelly’s entire temperament changed she became lighter happier and most importantly she was played with her paddock family. I have had a number of others try this balm with amazing results from laminitic horses to horses affected with bacterial and fungal infections including Thrush and Seedy Toe with the combined use of my anti-bacterial spray.
